ANOTHER DREAM COME TRUE KONKAN TO BE CONNECTED BY RAIL TO KOLHAPUR & RATNAGIRI TO HAVE AN INDIAN RAILWAY FACTORY

Here is a good news for the people of Konkan Region ! Just like another great son of Konkan, Late Shri Madhu Dandvate, made the dream of having a railway line to Konkan come true 25 years ago , Shri Suresh  P Prabhu Hon’ble Railway Minister has made the dream of having a rail connection between Konkan and Western Maharashtra and Marathwada come true. The Western Ghats which are a huge barrier between the Konkan and  rest of Maharashtra will be conquered and facilitate closer economic and social ties between the two regions.

In another historical Rail Budget presented by Shri Prabhuji , he has once again taken care of Konkan by gifting a new rail line to be constructed between Vaibhavwadi station on Konkan Railway and Kolhapur on Central Railway. This work will be done on cost sharing basis by Indian Railway with Govt of Maharashtra.

With the construction of this line the ports of Konkan region will get a shorter link into the agricultural and industrial heartland of Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka. This will lead to faster development of the ports and consequential benefits to Konkan Region by way of more jobs and economic prosperity.

Total Length of the Project is 108 Kms, with an estimated  cost of ` 3456 Cr with a likely completion period of 55 months (Detailed Salient Features enclosed).

Similarly, there is an another gift to Konkan Region i.e. Rolling Stock Manufacturing and Rehabilitation Factory will be set up in Ratnagiri District at an estimated cost of ` 300 Crs. which will be a great boon to the Konkan Region.
