RRB means Railway Recruitment Board. It is an important division of Indian Railways administered by the ministry of railway, the government of India.
The RRB was set up in India in 1998 with an objective of framing recruitment procedure that of railway in India. There was emphasis given to supervise the activities of all railway boards instituted in India. Its entire selection service keeps account of the expenditure incurred in due completing the recruitment process. There is RRCB i.e., Railway Recruitment Control Board to evaluate the performance of all Railway Recruitment Boards and direct them to precedence as it’s required.
There are different Railway Recruitment Boards in India. In all 19 railway boards are there in Indian Railways. These railway boards are RRB Ajmer, RRB Gorakhpur, RRB Bangalore, RRB Allahabad, RRB Chandigarh, RRB Bilaspur, RRB Chennai, RRB Trivandrum, RRB Secundrabad, RRB Kolkata, RRB Patna, RRB Hajipur, RRB Mujaffarpur, RRB Malda, RRB Ranchi, RRB Mumbai, RRB Bhubaneswar, RRB Bhopal, RRB Guwahati and RRB Jammu & Kashmir.
For recruitment in Indian Railways, the RRBs call applications from the eligible candidates through “Employment News,” a government of India publication. The employment notification is also published on the respective websites of the RRBs. Indicative notification is also given through leading national as well as local dailies. The boards publish various Technical and non-Technical categories as well as Para medical posts in Group ‘C’ cadre as per indents submitted by Chief Personal Officer of railway boards.
The RRBs scrutinize the applicants and call them for a written examination. These examinations are held in various school and colleges. The candidates who qualify in the preliminary examination are called for the main written examination. A merit list is prepared based on the result of the exam. There is no interview in any exam of the railway recruitment board.
Finally, successful candidates are verified. They bring their original documents with them. Thereafter, the board conducts a medical examination for each qualified candidate. And then, the RRB recommends the name of the candidates for appointments.
